Hip-Hop Magazine Research
The first ever hip-hop magazine was 'Soul Underground' which was founded in 1987. The magazine not only covered hip-hop but all forms of black ethnic music artists. Though hip-hop was founded in America, the first two magazines, 'Soul Underground' and 'The Hip-Hop Connection', were released in the United Kingdom. Since then there have been a further 16 magazines falling under the hip-hop genre, making it a very open market for a competitor. Like every brand, some are more important and bigger than others, the main big ones are Vibe, XXL, The Hip-Hop Connection and The Source.
